Press Release

Penn Johnson named Top Mortgage Originator

STAMFORD AND DANBURY, CT, ISSUED JUNE 26, 2019…Penn Johnson, President of Stamford Mortgage, a subsidiary of Savings Bank of Danbury (http://sbdanbury.com), has been named the top mortgage originator in Fairfield County for 2018 by the Warren Group, publisher of The Commercial Record and one of the top real estate professionals in Connecticut by Forbes Magazine.

In addition Johnson has been named as a Five Star Mortgage professional in Connecticut for the sixth year in a row. The final list of Five Star Mortgage Professionals includes less than 7 percent of the mortgage professionals in the market.

According to Johnson, being a part of a local savings bank with a strong commitment to bringing clients the highest level of service is the reason for our success in a market that is served by many other banks. Home buyers, realtors and attorneys rely on us to handle their financing with a high degree of skill and with constant communication.

“We applaud Penn on earning this top industry recognition,” said Martin Morgado, President and Chief Executive Officer of Savings Bank of Danbury. “Stamford Mortgage is consistently a top producer in Fairfield County and in the state of Connecticut. Their attention to our customers’ needs is exceptional.”

A resident of Redding CT, Johnson has served as President of Stamford Mortgage Company since it was founded in 1996. He earned a bachelor of arts degree in economics from the University of Chicago and a master’s of business administration in finance and management from the University of Connecticut School of Business. Penn also serves as Treasurer of New Pond Farm and Educational Center in Redding CT, which is a year-round environmental education center with a small working farm. They offer school field trips, adult lectures, family programs, children’s classes, and summer camp.
