They enthusiastically embraced our traditional activities like the Womens CenterSAFE Walk and the United Way of Western Connecticut King of the Hill 5K where we had a 25% increase in the number of runners. New this year, we expanded our community involvement by participating in the American Heart Association Heart Walk and attending the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Paint-A-Pumpkin event. We saw a 53% increase in employee donation for the United Way of Greater Waterbury and the United Way of Western Connecticut had a 16% increase inJUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH FOUNDATION employee contributions through payroll deductions.2018 PAINT-A-PUMPKIN WITH THE 2018 FACE OF VOLUNTEERISM AWARDEE, Employees also participated in a number of activities that helped put food onJOSYLDA KOPKE (RIGHT)the table for the less fortunate. We conducted a food drive for the Bethel Food Pantry, collecting 350 pounds of food; before Thanksgiving all branches of the Savings Bank of Danbury held food drives to benefit Hillside Food Outreach, Greater Waterbury Interfaith Ministries and Lower Fairfield County Food Bank.We salute our 2018 Face of Volunteerism Awardee, Josylda Kopke, who has shown dedication and leadership.
